Description


Byzantine Greek Art contemporary icon of Mother of God painted with the traditional way.The Mother of God  is shown in prayer position half length, facing half  right with gently bowed head and arms raised towards her son Jesus Christ .She is dressed in a red maphorion with 2 golden stars on her breast and one in her head .

On her head has a blue marine Greek cap. The letters "MP" and "θΥ" in the uppers corners on the icon are abbreviations from the Greek words `Mother of God).


(The icon with Mother of God  is often the left  part of the triptych ``Deesis`` which has the Icon of Christ on the Centre and in prayer position the Icon of St. John the Baptist from the other side of the Christ.).
