THE NEW TESTAMENT :

CAN JESUS PERFORM A  SIGN ?

THE SIGN OF THE PROPHET JONAH.

                                         MATTHEW  12:38

"Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying ,"Teacher,we want to see a sign from you."

"But He (Jesus) answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with  this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here."

When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says,

" I will return to my house from which I came. And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that  man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation."

While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. Then one said to Him, " Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You."

But He answered and said to the one who told Him, " Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."

                                            LUKE  11:29

Others, testing Him, sought from Him a sign from heaven. But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them:  "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. If Satan also is divided against him-self, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and  divides his spoils. He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, " I will return to my house from which I came. And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first."

And it happened,as He  spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!"  Bur He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"

And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, "This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation. The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation  and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.

No one ,when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in many see the light. The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body  will be full of light, as when the bright shinning of a lamp gives you light."

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the call according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified,

He also glorified.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is with us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us

all things? Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies, Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation,or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword? As it is written:

"For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come , nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The power of an Apostle

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you. And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak, knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even thought our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but all the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary but the things which are not seen are eternal.

The Hope of Resurrection

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Saint Evgenios Trebizond dressed as a courtier and his folowers murals exist in the Church of the Monastery of Dionysiou in Mount Athos,Greece.

Now Jacob dwelt in the land where his father had sojourned, in the land of Canaan. This is the genealogy of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was shepherding the sheep with his brothers. Now the land was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives; and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons. because he was the son of his old age. He also made him a tunic of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak civilly to him.

Then Joseph had a dream, and reported it to his brothers. Thus he said to them, "Hear this dream I dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed to my sheaf. So his brothers said to him, "Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us? So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.

Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, "Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the son, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me." So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, "What is this dream you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come and bow down on the ground before you? And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

Then his brothers went to feed their fathers flock in Shechem. And Israel said to Joseph, "Are not your brother shepherding

the sheep in Shechem? Come, I will send you to them." So he said to him. "Here I am." Then Israel said to him, "Go and see if it is well with your brothers and well with the sheep, and bring back word to me." So he sent him out of the Valley of Hebron, and he went to Shechem.

Now a certain man found him, and there he was, wandering in the field. So the man asked him, saying, "What are you seeking?" He replied, "I am looking for my brothers. Tell me where they are feeding their sheep ." The man said to him, "They have departed from here, for I heard them say, "Let us go to Dothan." So Joseph went after his brothers and found them in Dothan. Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. Then they said to one other. "Look, this dreamer is coming. Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say. "Some wild beast has devoured him. We shall see what will become of his dreams."

But Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, "Let us not kill him." Again Reuben said to them, "S hed no blood, but cast him into this pit in the desert; and do not lay a hand on him" that he might deliver him out of their hands, and bring him back to his fathers. So it came to pass, when Joseph came to his his brothers, they stripped the tunic of many colors off him. Then they took him and cast him into a pit, which was empty; for there was no water in it.

They then sat down to eat meal, and lifted their eyes and looked, and there was a company of Ishmaelite wayfarers coming from Gilead with their camels bearing spices, balm and myrr, on their way to carry them down to Egypt. So Judah said to his brothers, "What profit is there if we kill our brother and conceal his blood? Come let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, but let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh" and his brother listened. Thus the Midianite traders passed by, and the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit; and they sold him to the Ishamaelites for twenty pieces of gold. So they took Joseph to Egypt. Then Reuben returned to the pit, and when he saw Joseph was not in there, he tore his clothes. So he returned to his brothers and said, " The lad is not there; and I, where shall I go?"

Thus they took Joseph's tunic, killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood. Then they sent the tunic of many colors, and and had it brought to their father said, " We found this. Do you know whether it is your son's tunic or not?" So he recognized it and said, This is my son's tunic. A wild animal has devoured Joseph and carried him off."  Then Jacob tore his clothes, put sackcloth on his waist, and mourned his son many days. Thus all his sons and daughters arose to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, and he said, "I shall go down into the grave to my son on mourning." So his father wept for him. Now the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard.

The reliquary casket of Saint Evgenios preserved in the treasury of Saint Mark's Cathedral in Venice is a final piece of evidence for the Saint Eugenios cult in Trebizond .It is a small box of gilt silver 28x14 cm large and 9 cm high. Its cover is decorated with an image in which the enthroned Christ in the center is flanked by the four figures of Saint Evgenios and his three companion waiting to receive their martyr's crowns,

of which Christ is holding one in each hand while the two remainings one's lie ready before His feet. The names of their martyr's are inscribed

above their heads: Akylas and Eugenios on Christ's right, Kanidios and Valerianos on his left.In comparison with the Dionysiou icon there is an

individualization in the way the martyrs are represented, apart from the fact that Akylas the youngest of the four is beardless unlike his three companions.

There is an inscription running in two lines along all four sided of the box.It refers to the image of the martyrs receiving their crowns and ends with the words:  " But I miserable man full of sin, make your mediators of my salvation ,for I wish to escape condemnation."The date of the reliquary is now considered to be the end of the fourteenth or the first two thirds of the fifteenth century a date before the fall of Trebizond in 1461 being more likely that a date after. The silver Vermeil reliquary attributed to a Trapezountine workshop and today exists in Saint Mark's Treasury (Basilica di San Marco Venice) .

The Monastery of Saint Evgenios  in Trebizond dedicated to them was an institution of great local importance increased after the beginings of the empire of Trebizond. The Saint supported  by the Trapezuntine Komnenoi. The collection of Saint Eugenios miracles are rich. Also in a lawsuit of the records in the monastery of Saint Dionysios on Mount Athos three citizens of Trebizond appear as witnesses all named Evgenios.

The relics were (richly equipped like treasures ,in coffins of silver and gleaming with gold" as Konstantine Loukites described them in his Enkomion on the martyrs ,few pilgrims appear to have felt the appeal from them and their promises of relief from pain and trouble.During the imperial centuries of Trebizond  support from the emperor and the state strengthened the martyr's and their leaders position. The City of Trebizond in fourteenth century marked the feast of its most revered Saint the martyr Eugenios with, the bishops, the abbots of monasteries and all the Christians!

Trebisonde was the Capital of the last Greek Empire in Greek "Τραπεζούς"Trapezous) and was the most important city in the Pontic coast on the Black sea ,mainly because was a station in the caravan route was historically on the Silk Road to the East and was a place of considerable commerse between Persia and Constantinople. The city owes its ancient name to the fact that it was built in the form of Trapeze and it was a Greek coloni from Sinopi. It relies on  trade in its prosperity and literature, leaving and artistic production.

Greek speaking populations and Greek culture had ancient roots in the Pontic region. By the year 1400 its rulers had called themselves Emperors for two hundrent years. They were Greek by language,Byzantine by culture and tradition and Orthodox by faith. They were Emperors of Anatolia or all the East with all that implied in the Byzantine World and the distinguised themselves by adopting the surname of Grant Komnenus.Trabzon Rum Imparatoglou in turkish

                           THE HISTORY

Saint Evgenios lived in 3rd century ,was a native martyr  from Trebizond Pondus, Minor Asia (current date Trabzon Turkey) who have been condemned to death during the persecution of Diocletian (284-310). He credited with the boldly destruction of the statue of Mithras  on the "gray hill"  overlooking the city later known as the Mithridatis.Mithras had long been an object for adoration to the people of Trebizond on mount Mithrios.Saint Eugene for this along with his followers and martyrs Candidus, Valerian and Aquila was persecuted. The four hid in the mountains above Trebizond  but eventually found and brought before the regimental commander Lysius. They were flogged ,tortured with fire and eventu-aly beheaded.

The martyrdom of Saint Eugenios took place at an isolated point between two ravines that separate the upper citadel and the great eastern suburb and on this spot the Emperor Alexios erected a splendid Church and Monastery to the patron of the City and Empire. The buildings dedicated to Saint Eugenios were more than once destroyed amidst the revolution of Trebizond but a Christian Church conve-rted into a mosque by the Osmanlis and called Yeni Djuma djami or new Friday mosque and still exists in Trebizond ( Trabzon current date Turkey).

Saint Evgenios cult in 5th century devoted to him developed in Trebizond ,Pondus .The Komnenian rulers of the Empire of Trebizond adopted the Saint Eugenio as the Patron of Trebizond and has been venerated in the city since the sixth century.

St. Eugenios was chosen by the emperor and people of Trebizond to act as their advocate in Heaven and their protector on Earth. The safe Guard of the Empire of Trebizond. His name an veneration served to separate the citizens of the empire of Trebizond from the citizens of the Empire of Byzantium.

Many was the miracles of the Saint Eugenios assisting Trebizond. Eugenios efficacy in protecting Trebizond has been demonstrated most recently during the attact of Melic in 1223.

It was the Saint's miraculous appearance that threw the enemies into chaos and  had led to their complete defeat .After the victory Andronikos I Gidon ,paid special veneration at the church of Saint Eygenios in Trebizond dedicated to the Saint and gave it many gifts. The Saint Evgenios  was so famous in Trebizond ( like the great martyr St. Dimitrios in Thessaloniki Greece, and the great martyr St. George). His image appears frequently on Trapezuntine coins (especially on coins of emperor Manuel I Komnenos showing him in Byzantine imperial regalia with  St. Eugenios image on reverse .The prominence accorded to the Saint ,also on the portrait of Emperor Manuel's dress in  the Monastery of St Sophia  close to fortress of Trebi-

zond. Manuel in his breast had a large medallion about 7 inches in diameter bearing the figure of St Eugenios on horseback as he represented on the later coins of Trebizond. The figure of the Saint was painted on a blue ground. This reflects the overwhelming importance  of  St. Eugenios in Trapezuntine society in the thirteen century with the city of Trebizond and Empire under frequent attack.

The festivals of St. Evgenios became the bond of Social  communica-tion between the Emperor and his subjects. The biography of the Saint was the text book of Trapezuntine literarure. His praise the subject of every oratorical display .

His name the appellation of one member in every family, the object of universal veneration and the center of Patriotic enthusiasm. In the Saint's Church celebrated marriages and ceremonies of the imperial Children. The Emperor Alexios III celebrated at 24 of June the St.Evgenio's  birthday  anually with a great pomp at the expanse of the Imperial Treasury. The cult and pilgrimage around this Saint never really developed beyond Trebizond's borders although  John Lazaropoulos of Trebizond in the name Joseph collected the miracles of Saint Eugenios into one book in the 14th century.There are both Passio text s and miracle collections and strong evidence of local venerator.

*Trebizond  was a Byzantine state , a  major Byzantine center in Eastern Anatolia .

Trebizond's port was important for commerce arriving in caravans from the East .It's easily defensible position ensured its importance as a Byzantine military outpost and it was used as a base for military expeditions to the East. Conse-quently Byzantine Emperors over the centuries were concerned  to protect enhance and improve the City and majors commissions are recorded. In among other

Trebizond also acted as an important Ecclesiastical center .

"I compare the situation in Greece like that of a stowaway they should never have taken the Greeks on board in Euro zone . When a stowaway is detected on the high seas , you can not throw him away, yes with the Council into the sea,

he might swim back to the port. That probably does not create and the captain gets problems. Transferring to the Euro that means that we can not just throw out of the euro the Greeks because it would all pay a very high price in the euro zone. The Greek banking system would collapse and second case, Lehman Brothers and this would result serious consequences for German investors and banks. But we must also not fund luxury cabin at out expense for the Greeks. Instead, we should ask then, first of all to mobilize all our resources before they expect more support from the community specifically, we should demand that the government in Athens that  they privatized state- owned companies such as, investments and properties in an amount of 40 -50 billion euros, their debt reduces to an acceptable level. This must be the condition for the disbursement of trances ,of the bailout fund and for assistance in the form of interest or repayments for a bottomless pit must not be Greece for us. It is also clear a painless therapy does not exist for the Greek debt. Greece must continue to stand up for it's debt and ensure through structural reforms to boost growth."

Theo Waigel:  "Stowaway Greece not jettison."        January 8, 2016, 12:49

Former Minister of Finance and Euro co-founder Theo Waigel (CSU) has spoken out in dealing with Greece for patience. Admittedly it was a fatal mistake of his followers to take Greece to the euro,Waigel said on Friday as a quest speaker at a confectionery trade association in Munich."Today is for me still incomprehensible why one has ventured frivolity." Nevertheless, the country now can not simply be dropped." "The Greeks seems to me like a stowaway who goes undetected aboard an ocean liner, then climps on deck and says: "I am now as him " to throw overboard but is not an option. "I need not to give him champagne and caviar but bread, cheese, water and a bit of wine in between, which is justified in order to get out of trouble."

He may give up hope that Greece get its problem under control. Germany play for the future of Europe the central role."We have a responsibility as never before in history, and as this we have to face." ......

"Aid to Greeks went to the German banks." said D' Alema Massimo ex Prime Mnister of Italy  July 5, 2015

D' Alema: Gli aiuti alla Grecia sono andati alle banche tedesche."

They say: "We pay the pensions of the Greeks. No! We pay German banks, and this money the Greeks do not even feel the smell." Yes this concludes the interview with Massimo D' Alema Rai News 24. D' Alema concludes his interview with an example, which aims to demonstrate why a monetary union can not function without a union budget and why the inequalities between rich and poor countries are likely to increase without a political union. "In Germany the cost borrowing is very low." said D' Alema, ''then the German banks collect money at almost no cost. With that money they buy the bonds of Greece, that being at risk, country pays the highest rate 15%. In this way they earn a lot of money. 'In other words , by the difference in interest rates, enormous resources more from a poor country Greece in the rich country Germany." The poor country is more and more impoverished, the rich country always benefits .from more,What's more this contradiction, he continues it's reasoning the former prime minister, when Greece is no longer able to pay, they arrive European aid. "We have given Greece 250 billion euro, but to pay the German banks."

"Joseph thrown into a pit by his brothers and sold for slavery to Ishmaelites merchants"

Greek icon by the Cretan icon painter Theodoros Poulakis, 1677-1682

Israel's love was partial for he loved Joseph more than his others sons. Joseph's brothers were blinded by their hatred for him, and could not understand the things of God. Joseph brothers were motivated by the love of money and possessions, for they did not know the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Joseph's brothers cast him into a pit, then lifted him out and sold him for twenty pieces of gold as a slave into Egypt. Similarly, Jesus was betrayed for thirty pieces of silver, was killed and buried in His grave. But arose again, and became the Lord of all.!

                                THE ABDUCTION OF EUROPA ...

GREECE IS THE EUROPE, THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD... JESUS CHRIST!

" And Circe transformed Odysseu's companion into pigs ...

Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them. "  So He spoke this parable to them saying:

"What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, "Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost! I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety -nine just  persons who need no repentance.    LUKE 15

Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she find it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together ,saying, "Rejoice with me, for i have found the piece which I lost!" Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."             Luke 15:8

Then He said: "A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, "Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me." So he divide to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.

But when he had spend it all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself, he said, "How many of my father's servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son."

But the father said to his servants, "Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry.

Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, "Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf."

But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. So he answered and said to his father,"  These many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him."

And he said to him, "Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad ,for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found."       LUKE 15:11

``And He (Jesus)  said to them (Pharisees), ``You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.``                                                                JOHN 8:24

                                 THE LAMP

"Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? It is not to be set on a lamp stand? For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come in light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."                                                MATTHEW 4:21

"And behold , I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every according to his works. I am the Alpha, and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last."   REVELATION 22-12

JOHN 3:16                                                                THE CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST

"And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, place of a Scull. Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it. And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what man should take. Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him. And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS.With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left. So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And He was numbered with the transgressors."And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, "Aha! You who destroy the temple and built in three days, save Yourself, and come down from the cross!"

Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said,  "He saved others; Himself He cannot save. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.     MARK 15:22

The term "Macedonian Call" refers to a God given vision that directed the route Paul took on his 2nd missionary journey (ACTS 15:39-18:22).The Macedonian call resulted in Paul and his companions sailing from Troas to Neapolis, stopping for the night on the island of Samothrace. From Neapolis /Christoupolis (Kavala today) they continued on to the Roman colony of Philippi, the leading city of the district of Macedonia. This area is still known as the gateway to Europe. The Gospel had been limited to Asia, and many historians credit Paul's heeding the Macedonian Call with the spread of Christianity into Europe and the Western world. Much happened in Macedonia. Lydia's conversion.(Acts 16:14-15), the deliverance of a fortune-telling slave girl (Acts 16:16-18),Paul and Sila's imprisonment in Philippi (Acts 16:16-28),the conversion of the jailer and his household (Acts 16:29-34), and Paul's preaching in the Areopagus in Athens (Acts 17:16-34) are some of the highlights of the second missionary journey. Paul planted several churches in Macedonian cities. Local bodies of believers were established in Philippi (Acts 16:40), Thessalonica (Acts 17:4), and Corinth (Acts 18:1-11). These churches were important in the growth of the early church and enjoyed a long -term relationship wit the Apostles.Five of the New Testaments Epistles were written to these three churches. Up to that point in History the history of the church and of the world forever changed because of the God given dream known as the Macedonian Call.

ACTS 16:1

Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a  certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek. He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium. Paul wanted to have him go on with him. And he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in that region, for they all knew that his father was Greek.  All as they went through the cities, they delivered to them the decrees to keep, which delivered to them the decrees to keep , which were determined by the apostles and elders at Jerusalem. So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increases in number daily. Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. So passing by Myssia, they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying , "Come over  to Macedonia and help us." Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.

ACTS 16:11

Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost  city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city for some days. And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there. Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay ." So she persuaded us.

Byzantine icons have highly effective character and are symbols with very deep meaning  extended to a much larger area as in the Pontic Greek case .Byzantine icons of Panagia Soumela and Saint Evgenios of Trebizond (Trapezountios) helping the Pontic Greeks to maintain and transmit their Pontic Greek identity linked to a territory corresponding to that of the Byzantine Empire of Trebizond (1204-1461). I tried to explain the icon's deeper meaning in the page " The Meaning of Byzantine Icons" and we must know that the links between people and the icons of " Panagia Soumela and Saint Evgenios of Trebizond" constitutes the cement of the "Gordian knot of the National  Community of Pontic Greeks". These symbols has three essential aspects: Orthodox religion, the political past ( memory), and their Social Organizations today that all these constitutes an "Iconography" as defined by J. Cottman, and that is true for the Pontic Greeks culture that was descended directly from the Byzantine Civilization. (Bruneau 2000).

Now is not late ,it is the time the Pontic Greeks globally for one more time to ensure their reproduction of their Greek identity in "exile "and its transmission from one generation to the next .Is time to remember and return in our roots, our identity, our glorious faith, values, qualities and ideals to start building new Orthodox Churches in the glory of God and establish Acossiations and Pontic Cultural Centers all over the world in the name not only of our Protectress and Mother of God " Panagia Soumela " which is the highest symbol of Hellenism of Pontos but also of their most revered ancient Martyr " Saint Evgenios of Trebizond and his folowers" the Patron Saint of Pontic Greeks and the Empire of Komnene. It's the time to venerate and imitate as our Holy Church prompting all of us "Memory of the Saint is the imitation of the Saint". Saint Evgenios is the trademark of the Hellenism of Pondos along with Panagia Soumela the most holy Mother of God and Mother of all the

Christians global  which she is at one and the same time our symbol and the link that connects all the Christians and all the Greeks and in this case the Pontic Greeks all over the World in the same way like this Pontic ancient Martyr of our Church Saint Egenios. Panagia Soumela is the " Hodegetria " and with her hand in her icon guiding us to the her Son Jesus Christ which is our Saviour " The Gate and the Life " and only through Him will achieve the salvation of ours souls and this can be extended in the salvation of our Nation. Greece and Christ and Orthodoxy was always one at once and only with this combination we are powerful!

Saint Evgenios was chosen by the Emperor and people of Trebizond to act as their advocate in the Empire and in Heaven and was their Protector on Earth! Let's do the same and then like the Byzantines..our ancestors  we will see what kind of "miracles" we can achieve personally and as a Nation. But also we must have leaders in every level without selfish motive which believe and venerate God like the Byzantine emperors did. " A society in which everyone seeks only his own advantage will collapse and disintegrate unless it is ordered to the good of all by some one ruler who has charge of the common good". But which ruler can be more superior and equitable and fair which cares for the common good than the leader which is inspired by God ? Because " When God, the Ruler of all is with us nobody can come against us", and because Christ said that "Nobody can achieve anything without Me." There is an economic Crisis and a general spiritual "dryness¨ in Greece today.

Where are the intellect ,the intelligent the "brains" of our country ? They don't have any solutions to suggest or anything to say ? We have a huge shortage of  wise leaders "wise" according to " God's wisdom...and there must be someone responsible for the present ¨leipsandria" (λειψανδρία) ? "Leipsandria" in Greek means lack of men general but in this case we have a shortage of "Real men" of "Great men" of "men of bravery" of  "wise men " which  are complete and powerful personalities with ideals. Powerful leaders with stature of mind  and  greatness of soul. But like these can become  those inspired only by the true God like the holy Great Martyrs of Christianity that nothing could make them fear anything in the world except one thing and this was the dismissal  from God's Grace .

The reason for this lack of men today is the estrangement from our values and the God's commandments which we had before and was the compass in our life. All we are responsible for this but mainly is the woman's decline globally.Three are the most worst on Earth "the Fire, the evil Woman and the Sea"

Unfortunately is the "Eve" again. When the woman falls all the world falls too. Remember from the Biblical book of Genesis (3) the Expulsion of Adam'S and Eve's from the garden of Edem the Paradise because of their poor choices. They were free to chose. Now is more obvious why one of the Mother of God's epithet name is the "New Eve" because of her obedient submission to the will of God offset Eve's disobedience in Paradise. Theotokos is our Directress and because of her purity, humility and wise choices in her life selected by God and became the Mother of Jesus Christ which is our God. She is more honorable than the Cherouvim and more glorious compare the Seraphim! She is the superior Lady and the Holy Fathers prompting us this woman to be  the proper example for all the women. We all know that the man is the boss of the family the "head" of the body but the woman is the "neck" and turns the "head" wherever she wants! She is influencing her husband and leading her children and family as she wants in a good way or in a bad way with the consequences in proportion. The woman always was raising and upbringing her children giving them the ideals the morals and values to be strong. Ιt is always the mother and wife who transmit the Culture and Religion constantly supporting and nourishing her family. It is mainly the woman's fault for the deficiency of "Great leaders" in Greece at this moment . "Behind every great man there is a great strong and wise woman." "A virtuous woman's price is beyond calculation", " Nothing more surely cultivates and embelish a man than association with refined and virtuous women.", "She is worth far more than rubies." Proverbs 31:10, "Beware of evil women." The woman shapes mainly the personality and character of her children creating the leaders, heroes, Martyrs and even the Saints! We need immediate worthy and capable leaders for our country like the Byzantine Christians Emperors that was inspired by God!

The Byzantine Empire was the most powerful economic ,cultural and military force in Europe. The Empire of Trebizond which had split away from the Byzantine Empire  just weeks before Constantinople was taken by the Crusaders in 1204, became the last remnant and last de facto successor state to the Byzantine Empire. The Byzantine Empire was a Theocracy ruled by God working through the Emperor. The Byzantine Empire became, so the Emperor had in her image should rule on earth and carry out his commandments. The constitution of the Byzantine Empire was based on the conviction that it was the earthly copy of the Kingdom of Heaven. Just as God ruled in Heaven, so the Emperor, made in his image, should rule on Earth and carry out His commandments. It saw it self as a universal Empire. It should embrace all the people of the Earth who ideally, should all the members of the one true Christian Church its own Orthodox Church. The survival of the empire in the East assured an active role of the Emperor in the affairs of the Church. The Church of Constantinople became between the 6th and 11th centuries the richest and the most influential center of Christendom. The Patriarchate of Constantinople remained the center of the Orthodox world with subordinate metropolitan sees and Archbishoprics in the territory of Asia Minor and the Balkans, now lost to Byzantium as well as Caucasus ,Russia and Lithuania. The God and His Church remained the most stable element in the Byzantine Empire! The Byzantines having God as their Ruler succeed indeed through His inspiration and support to made significant achievements Byzantine Art icons and Mosaics, Architecture notably in the construction of the Hagia Sophia, Sciences, Astronomy, Mathematical, Art, Literature and Ecclesiastical form of Byzantine music composed to the Greek texts. The Byzantine economy also trade of textile ,silk etc and was among the most advanced in Europe and the Mediterranean for many centuries.

It is very important the message"Imitate the Byzantines" which brings to all of us the cult of this ancient holy Martyr Evgenios from 300 c with his feast on January 21. He was a great men, a hero from Trebizond, Pontos. He did not feared the persecutors and sacrificed like "a slaughtered animal" for his Faith ideals winning the highest award the Eternity from Jesus Christ. He wasn't selfish. He was wise enough and did not want  to risk the Eternity for the 70 or 100 years of this temporal life. Where are today the cowards and the traitors of our Faith ? They sold their soul. They disappeared and nobody talks about them and Jesus Christ does not recognize them. What we have to benefit from them? Just nothing. Where are the Saints and Holy Martyrs for Christ like Saint Evgenios? They shining like sparkling stars in Heaven with their exemplary life like this ancient Saint of Trebizond from 300 till even today! Let see what Jesus said for the Salvation of Life and for the Salvation of Soul and who really is the clever and "wise" according to God's wisdom. "Jesus said to his disciples:"If any one desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his Cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man (means Jesus Christ second coming ) will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works." (Matthew 16:24-28).

Additional Jesus said in the Bible"Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light ;and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell...

Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him i will confess before My Father who is in Heaven. But whoever denies Me before men,him

i will also deny before My Father who is in Heaven. Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword...And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it." (Matthew 10:27-39). These words of Christ was the thoughts of the Saint's and Martyr's for this reason they sacrificed themselves for the Christ's sake!

We, the Greeks must be wise and stop selling our " birthrights the God blesses" and the treasures of Greece, like Esau for a some of red pottage. The hungry Esau sold and lost his father's (Isaak) blessings and birthrights (Geneses 27 ) for a single meal because of his poor

without wisdom choices. It shows a lack of reverence and respect. He lacked concern for pleasing God! His spiritual blessings and responsibilities meant nothing to him. There is nothing worth more than the value of our Eternal blessings of Christ. Saint Paul said (Romans 8:18)"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us."

We are warned not to imitate Esau and to respect what is Holy. We should never throw away what is important, Godly or honorable for the sake of temporary pleasure or monetary benefit."

All they saying that "the Greeks" must go forward and solve their problems but with this way going "forward" this is not possible in our case.

The paradox and even strange for us is that in order to go "forward" we must go "back". This is our only way in order Greece could gain power and rise again. Greece today needs a huge "Return" and this associated also with "Repentance". These two words reminds us the famous Jesus parable of the Prodigal son, the son's return and the generosity of his father (is the Heavenly Father) far more than he has a right to expect. Also we observing many "χαιρἐκακους (chairekakous)1" and they are a lot who are happy for the"ολίσθημα (olisthima)2" the

fault of Greece today. They must have in mind what Jesus said: "Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he falls." (A Corithians

10:12). Is also known what Jesus said to the adulterous woman "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." (John 8:7) They remind us the reaction of the eldest brother of the Prodigal son to his father his luck of love for the return of the prodigal son.

Today the Greeks are in a kind of  in "exile" migrating all over the world because of the Crisis in Greece. We feel like the hero of Homer's Odysseus having nostalgia for Ithaka for our beloved country Greece. We care for her future...All we must help Greece as much as we can. Support Greece because she is the light of the world, she is the of Europe and has the real God Jesus Christ! Can you forget what Greece offered to the whole World?

The Greeks must return in the old, successful and known "recipe" following the old values the ethos, qualities and ideals of our glorious faith and History. We need to have God, His mother and his Saints as advocates in Heaven and patrons on Earth like the Byzantine Emperors. One was the powerful combination Greece with Christ the Orthodoxy because Greece without Christ is like a body without heart and soul with result to be dead as exactly is now without power. There is a need to imitate and follow the way of the exemplary personalities martyrs and heroes of our faith and history as paradigm in our life ignoring any kind of "Ephialtes" traitors) " In the Greek History throughout the years, like Judas Jesus traitor always we have a traitor even in Homer's Odyssey Melanthius the son of Dolious played the minor, yet important character of Odyssey's disloyal goatherd .There are many the similarities between the life of Jesus Christ with the history of Greece 3.The traitors are many...they adore the money selling first themselves their souls Jesus Christ  and then so easy a whole country ! Is never too late for repentance but there is no repentance after death. We also all know the end of pay attention  to your actions and how you think.

The History will be written for all and God will reward each one according to his works. He is a fair and the equitable Judge. " The true Almighty God after His pedagogical lesson in all of us and our "Return to the Father"  Jesus Christ our Saviour is going to resurrect and embrace at the end Greece! We refused our God and this was the prize. We must have repentance so then we can have a big hope for a huge overthrow of the present situation in Greece. God loves Greece and the Orthodoxy is His own holy body. Greece is full of Saints, Martyrs, Churches and Monasteries devoted in His holy name and glory for this reason He is going to resurrect it.

Our situation in Greece remind us the "apo mechanes Theo" (τον από μηχανής θεό)"4  saving a seemingly hopeless situation in the Greek Theater, especially in Tragedy! Then, that day as the Bible say " The last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen." (Matthew 20:6)  and "The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone!"  (Luke 20:17)

1. Chairekakos "Χαιρέκακος" (χαίρω (to be happy)+κακός,μοχθηρός (bad))" is the man who is happy with the misfortune and misery the wretchedness of his "brothers".Is the gleeful malice, spiteful man full of luck of love and this man indeed is the one for pity. In German is the "schadenfreude".

2. Olisthima "Ολίσθημα" (ολισθαίνω) is the slip, slide the fault, the deviation, divergence from the straight (God) street.

3. Ephialtes "Εφιάλτης" betrayed his homeland in hope of receiving some of reward from the Persians by showing the Persian a path around the allied Greek position at the pass of Thermopylae which helped them win the Battle of Thermopylae  in 480 BC.

4. Apo mechanes theos "Από μηχανής θεός" in Latin is" Deux e Machine" means "god from the machine ." it is a Greek convention in Greek Tragedy. The idea introduced by Aeschylus when the god the unexpected saviour" who was coming to help at the end of the play giving unexpected was the divine intervention the contrived plot resolution in Greek Theater. This phrase originally described an ancient plot device used in Greek and later in Roman Theater in the 5th and 5th BC. Many Greek tragedy writers used to resolve complicated or even seemingly hopeless situations in the plots of their plays. The phrase is loosely translated as "god or godess from the machine" would  be lowered on stage by a "mechane (machine)" which was the name of the crane device used. The writer used this to move the story forward when the story was in a corner with no other way out,to surprise the audience to bring the tale to happy ending.

                                       THE BOOK OF JONAH

                                                          JONAH FLEES FROM THE LORD

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, "Arise and go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach in it; for the cry of her wickedness has come up to me."  But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. So he went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarnish, paid his fare, and boarded the ship to set sail with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord.

But the Lord raised up a great wind upon the sea, and there came about a mighty tempest, and the ship was in danger of breaking up. And the mariners were afraid and cried out, each one to his god. And they cast out the cargo of the ship into the sea, attempting to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below into the hold of the ship, had gone to sleep, and was snoring. The captain came to him and said, "Why are you snoring? Get up and call upon your God, that your God may keep us safe so we do not perish."  And each one said to his shipmate, "Come! Let us cast lots and find out on whose account this calamity is upon us. "So the cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

Then they said to him, "Tell us, what is your occupation? Where do you come from and from what country and people are you? And he said to them, "I am a servant of the Lord, and I worship the Lord God of heaven, who made the sea and dry land. Then the men were exceedingly afraid and said to him, "What is this that you did?" For the men knew he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them. Then they said to him, "What should we do to you that the sea will calm itself for us?" For the sea continued to be tempestuous, and the waves rose up even higher. And Jonah said to them, "Take me up and cast me into the sea, and the sea will grow calm for you, for I know this great tempest is upon you because of me."

And the men tried hard to return to the land, but were unable to do so, for the sea arose and grew even more

tempestuous against them. Then the cried out to the Lord and said, "Please, O Lord, do not let us perish on account of this man's life, nor bring righteous blood upon us; for you, O Lord, have brought this about. So they took upon Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging.  And the men feared the Lord even more, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and vowed vows.

                                                    JONAH'S SONG OF THANKSGIVING

Now the Lord commanded a huge sea creature to shallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the sea creature three days and three nights.  And from the belly of the sea creature, Jonah prayed to the Lord his God, and said:

"I cried out in my affliction to the Lord, my God, And He heard my voice; Out of the belly of Hades, You heard the cry of my voice. You cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, And rivers encompassed me; All Your surging waters and Your waves passed over me. And I said,'' I have been driven away from Your sight; Shall I again look with favor toward Your holy temple? Water is poured over me to my soul; The lowest depth encircled me; My head plunged into the clefts of the mountains.  I descended into the earth. The bars of which are everlasting barriers; Yet let my life ascend from corruption, O Lord, my God. When my soul was failing from me, I remembered the Lord. May my prayer be brought to You, into Your holy temple. Those who follow vanity and lies forsake their own mercy. But with a voice of thanksgiving and praise, I will sacrifice to You. As much as I vowed, I shall offer up to You, To You, the Lord of Deliverance."

Then the Lord commanded the sea creature , and it cast up Jonah onto the dry land.

                                                               THE REPENTANCE OF NINEVEH

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time, saying , "Arise and go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach there according to the message I previously spoke to you."  So Jonah arose  and went to Nineveh, just as the Lord spoke. Nineveh was an exceedingly great city  to God, a journey of about three days. And Jonah began to enter into the city, going a day's journey, where he proclaimed and said , " Yet three days and Nineveh shall be overthrown."

And the men of Nineveh believed God. They proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest of them to the least. Then the word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne, removed his robe, and put on a sackcloth, and sat upon ashes. And it was proclaimed and  spoken in Nineveh by the king and by his great men, saying ,"Let not the men, cattle, oxen, or sheep taste anything ,eat, or drink water." So the men and the cattle were clothed with sackcloth, and they cried out fervently to God; and they each turned back from their evil ways and from the wrongdoings of their hands, saying, "Who knows if God shall have a change of heart and turn from His fierce anger, that we should perish?" And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil ways. And God had a change of heart about the evil which He said He would do to them, and He did not do it.

JONAH IS GRIEVED BY THE  LORD'S COMPASSION

But Jonah was deeply grieved and was troubled. So he prayed to the Lord and said, "Oh Lord, were these not my words when i was yet in my land? Therefore I saw the need to flee to Tarshish; because i knew You to be compassionate and merciful, long-suffering and abundant in mercy, and willing to change your heart concerning evils. And now, Master, Lord, take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live."

And the Lord said to Jonah, "Are you exceedingly grieved?" The Jonah went out of the city and seated himself opposite it. There he made for himself a tent and sat under its shade, until he might observe what would happen to the city. And the Lord God commanded a gourd, and it came up over the head of Jonah to be a shade over his head, to shield him from his discomforts. Jonah rejoiced with great joy because of the gourd. But early the next morning, God commanded a worm and it smote the gourd, and the gourd withered up. And when the sun rose, God commanded a burning east wind; and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah, and he grew faint and despaired of his life. And he said "It is better for me to die than to live." Then God said to Jonah, "Are you exceedingly grieved on account of the gourd?" And he said, "I am exceedingly grieved, even unto death."  And the Lord said, "You took pity on the gourd, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came up during the night and perished before the next night. And shall I Myself not take pity upon Nineveh, the great city, in which  dwell more than one hundred and twenty thousand people who do not know either their right hand or their left and many live stock?"

The major theme in the story of Jonah is the universality of God's mercy. The compassion of the Lord is not limited to the Jews, but extends to all people, even to the enemies of God's people. Jonah's reluctance to carry out God's command and his disappointment when God acts mercifully are a result of his narrow- minded nationalism, shared with many Jews of the postexilic period.

In the Orthodox Church's liturgical tradition, the Book of Jonah is read in its entirety on Holy Saturday. The third-day deliverance of Jonah from the great fish is a foretaste of the third-day Resurrection of Christ.

We sing, "Jonah was enclosed but not held fast in the belly of the whale; for, serving as a figure of You, who were buried in the tomb, he leapt forth from the monster as from a bridal chamber and he called out to the watch: O you who keep guard falsely and in vain, you have forsaken your own mercy."

Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt, and Potiphar, Pharaoh's eunuch and captain of the guard, an Egyptian, had bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he was successful man; and he was living in the house of his lord the Egyptian. So his lord saw that the Lord was with him and the Lord made all hi did to prosper in his hand. Thus Joseph found grace in his sight and was pleasing to him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and put everything he had under Joseph's authority. So it was , from the time he made him overseer of his house and all he had , that the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all he had in the house and in the field. Thus he left all he had in Joseph's hand, and did not know what he had except for the bread he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.

Then it came to pass after these things that his lord's wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, "Lie with me." But he refused and said to his lord's wife, "Look, my lord does not know what is with me in the house and has comitted all he has to my hand. There is no one greater on this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?'' So it was , as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to have relations with her. But it happened about this time, when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. So it was .when she saw he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside, she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, "See, he brought in to us a Hebrew to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice. Thus it happened, when he heard that I lifted my voice and cried out, he left his garment with me, and fled and went outside. So he kept his garment with her until his lord came home. Then she spoke to him with words like these ,saying, "The

Hebrew servant you brought to us came in to me to mock me; so it happened, as I lifted my voice and cried out, he left his garment with me and fled outside." So it was , when his lord heard the words his wife spoke to him, saying, "Your servant did to me after this manner," his anger was aroused. Then Joseph's lord took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were confined. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him grace in the sight of the chief prison keeper. So the chief keeper of the prison put under Joseph's authority both the prison and all the prisoners, and whatever they did there. The chief keeper of the prison did not look into anything under Joseph's authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.

Joseph Interprets the Dreams of the Prisoners

Now it came to pass after these things, that the king of Egypt's chief cupbearer and chief baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt. So Pharaoh was angry with his two eunuch's, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker. Thus he put them in custody with the chief bodyguard in the prison, the place where Joseph was confined. Then the chief jailer committed them so Joseph, and he attended them; so they were in custody for a while. Then the king of Egypt's chief  cupbearer and the chief baker ,who were confined in the prison, had a dream, both of them, each man's dream in one night and each man's dream with its own interpretation. So Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them, and saw they were troubled. Thus he asked Pharaoh's eunuchs. who were with him in the custody of his lord, saying, "Why do you look so sad today?" So they said to him, "We each had a dream, and there is no one to interpret it." Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Therefore, relate them to me." Then the chief cupbearer related his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "Behold, in my dream a vine was before me, and the vine were three branches; it was a thought it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes. Then Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand." And Joseph said to him, ''This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days. Now within three days Pharaoh will remember your position and restore your office of chief cupbearer; and you will put Pharaoh's cup in his hand according to the former manner, when you were his cupbearer. But remember me when it is well with you, and have mercy on me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this prison. For indeed I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews? and I also have done nothing for them to put me into the dungeon."

When the chief baker saw the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, " I also had a dream, and there were three white baskets on my head. In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket of my head." So Joseph answered and said, ''This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days. Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you."

Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he remembered the positions of his chief cupbearer and chief baker among his servants. Then he restored the chief cupbearer to his position, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand. But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

Saint Evgenios and his companions Oualerianos Kandidos and Akilas appear in a splendid icon in the Dionysiou monastery of Mount Athos in Greece. This icon is double sided and its main face shows Alexios III Grand Komnenos holding a model of a church in his left hand ,and John the Baptist that is,the donor and the dedicatory Saint of the Monastery, respectively and the Christ above them in a mandorla representing Heaven giving his blessings. Alexios is clearly recognizable from his famous chrysobull of September 1374, although the icon painter has given him a fuller beard.

The reverse of the icon shows from left to right Saint Kandidos or Kanidios ,Evgenios Trebizond ,Oualerianos or Valerianos ,and Akylas. The martyrs are highly individualized ,Kanidios with grizzled hair and beard, Evgenios with a jeweled chlamys and golden hallo that sets him off as the leading figure, and with black hair and beard arranged in a fashion strikingly similar to his appearance in the typikon of his monastery in the Vatopedi manuscript of 1346. Valerianos with redish hair and the young Akylas beardless and youthful.

This icon is connected to the donation documented in the chrysobulo of 1374, most likely as an additional gift to the Monastery .Alexios devoted some attention to the Trapezountine pilgrims coming to Dionisiou monastery in Mount Athos. These pilgrims have had the opportunity of venerating the martyrs of their homeland in this double sided icon. The memory of St. Eugenios is kept alive at Dionysiou Monastery on Mount Athos from 1375 since the Monastery was founded by the Emperor Alexios III of Trebizond (1338-1390)

Joseph Interprets the Dreams of Pharaoh

Then it came to pass, at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh had a dream; and behold, he stood by the river.

Suddenly there came up out of the river seven cows, fine-looking and fat; and they fed in the meadow. Then behold, seven  others cows came up after them out of the river, ugly and gaunt, and stood by the other cows on the bank of the river. But the ugly and gaunt cows ate up the seven fine-looking and fat cows. So Pharaoh awoke. He slept and dreamed a second time; and suddenly seven ears of corn came up on one stalk, plump and good. Then behold, seven ears of corn , thin and blighted by the east wind, sprang up after the. But the seven thin ears of corn devoured the seven plump and full  ears. So Pharaoh awoke, and indeed, it was a dream.

Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the interpreters of Egypt and all its wise men. Thus Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh. Then the cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, ``I remember my sin this day. When Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in custody in the house of the chief bodyguard, both myself and the chief baker, we each had a dream in one night, both he and I. Each had a dream regarding himself. Now there was with us a young Hebrew servant of the chief bodyguard, and we related our dreams to him; and he interpreted them for us. And it came to pass, just as he interpreted for us, so it happened. He restored me to my office, but he hanged him.

Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he shaved, changed his clothing and came to Pharaoh. Thus Pharaoh said to Joseph, ``I had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.`` So Joseph answered Pharaoh saying, ``It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh answer of peace.`` Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, his dreams... So I told all this to the interpreters, but there was no one who could explain it to me.``

Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, ``The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do: The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good ears of corn are seven; the dreams are one. But the seven thin and ugly cows that came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads blighted by the east wind are seven years of famine. This is the thing I have spoken to Pharaoh. God has shown to Pharaoh what He is about to do. Indeed seven years of great plenty will come throughout all the land of Egypt; but after them seven years of famine will arise, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine will deplete the land. So the plenty will not be known in the land because of the famine following, for it will be very severe. Now the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is establishing by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a sensible and intelligent man, and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint governors over the land, to collect one fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years. So let them gather all the food of the seven good years that are coming, and store up grain under Pharaoh`s authority, and let them keep food in the cities. That food shall then be as a reserve in the land for the seven coming years of famine in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine.

Joseph Made Ruler of Egypt

Now this advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants. Thus Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find such a man as this, who has the Spirit of God in him? " Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as sensible and intelligent as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you." So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt." Then Pharaoh took the signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph's hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put gold chain around his neck. Then he had him ride in the second of his chariots; and they cried out before him,

"Bow the knee!" Pharaoh also said to Joseph, " I am Pharaoh, and without  your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt." Then Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-Paaneach, and he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti- Pherah, priest of On.

Now Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. Then Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt. Now in the seven plentiful years the ground brought forth abundantly. So he gathered up all the food of the seven years of prosperity in the land of Egypt, and stored the food in the cities....

Now two sons were born to Joseph before the years of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, bore to him. Joseph called  the name of his first born Manasseh: "  For God has made me forget all my troubles and all my father's house." And the name of second he called Ephraim: " For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my humiliation."

Then the seven years of plenty in the land of Egypt ended, and the seven years of famine began to come, as Joseph said.

The famine was in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was no bread. So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Then Pharaoh said to all Egyptians. "Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, do." The famine was over all the face of the earth, and Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. Then all countries also came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all the earth.

Joseph Brothers Come to Egypt

When Jacob found out there was grain for sale in Egypt , he said to his sons, "Why are you standing idle?" Then he said, " Indeed , i heard there is grain in Egypt; go down there and buy for us there, that we may live and not die." So Joseph's ten brothers went down to buy grain in Egypt. But Jacob did not send Joseph's brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he said, " Let some calamity befall him."

Thus the sons of Israel went to buy grain with those who were going there, for the famine was in the land of Canaan. Now Joseph was governor over the land; and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. So Joseph's brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the ground. Joseph saw his brothers and recognized them, but he acted as a stranger to them and spoke roughly  to them. Then he said to them, "When do you come from?" And they said , "From the land of Canaan to buy food." So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him.

Then Joseph remembered the dreams he dreamed about them, and said to them, " You are spies. You have come to map out the roads of the country," But they said to him, "No my Lord, your servants have come to buy food. We are all one man's sons; we are men of peace;your servants are not spies." But he said to them, "No, but you have come to map out the roads of the land." Then they said, "Your servants are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and in fact, the youngest is with our father today, and one is no more." But Joseph said to them, "It is as spoke to you ,namely, "You are spies!" In this manner you shall be manifested: By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here. Send one of you, and let him bring your brother; and you shall be kept in prison, that your words may be tested to see whether there is any truth in you; or else, by the life of Pharaoh, surely you are spies."  So he put them all together in prison three days. Then Joseph said to them the third day, " Do this and live, for I fear God. If you are men of peace, let one of your brothers be confined  to your prison house; but you ,go and carry grain for the famine of your houses. But bring your youngest brother to me; so your words will be verified, and you shall not die." So they did so. Then they said to one another , " We are truly guilty concerning our brother , for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us." Reuben then answered them, saying, "Did I not speak to you, saying, "Do not sin against the boy, but you would not listen? Therefore , behold, his blood is now required of us." But they did not know Joseph understood them, for he spoke to them through an interpreter. Then Joseph turned away from them and wept. So he returned to them again, and talked with them; and took Simeon from them, and bound him before their eyes. Joseph then gave a command to fill their sacks with grain, to restore every man's money to his sack, and to give them provisions for the journey. Thus he did for them.

The Brothers Depart for Canaan

So they loaded their donkeys with the grain and departed from there. But as one of them opened his sack to give his donkey feed at the encampment, he saw his money; and there it was, in the mouth of his sack. So he said to his brothers, " My money has been returned to me, and there it is, in my sack." Then their hearts failed them, and they were afraid, saying to one another, "What is this God has done to us?" Then they went to Jacob their father in the land of Canaan and told him all that happened to them saying, "The man who is lord of the land spoke roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country. But we said to him, "We are men of peace; we are not spies. We are twelve brothers....." Then it happened as they emptied their sacks, that surprisingly each man's bundle of money was in his sac; and when they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid. So Jacob their father said to them, "You have bereaved me: Joseph is no more; Simeon is no more; and you want to take Benjamin.

All these things are against me." Then Reuben spoke to his father , saying, " Kill my two sons if I do not bring him back to you; put him in my hands, and I will bring him back to you."  But he said, " My son shall not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he is left alone. If any calamity should befall him along the way in which you go, then you would bring down my gray hair with sorrow to the grave."

Joseph's Brother's Return to Egypt with Benjamin

Now the famine was severe in the land. So it came to pass, when they had eaten the grain they brought from Egypt, their father said to them, " Go back, and buy us a little food."...

So the men took that present and Benjamin, and they took double money in their hand, and arose and went down to Egypt; and they stood before Joseph.  When Joseph saw Benjamin, his brother by the same mother, with them, he said to the steward of his house, "Take these men to my home, and slaughter an animal  and make ready, for these men will dine with me at noon." Now

the men were afraid because they were brought into Joseph's house, and they said, " It is because of the money returned to our sacks the first time, that we are brought here to make a case against us and fall upon us, to take us as slaves with our donkeys." ......Then they made the present ready for Joseph's coming at noon, for they heard he would eat bread there. Thus when Joseph came home, they brought the present in their hand to him in the house, and bowed down before him to the earth. Then he asked them about their well-being and said, " Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive? So they answered, " Your servant  our father is in good health; he is still alive." Then he said. " Blessed be that man in God"; and they bowed their heads down and prostrated themselves.

Then Joseph lifted his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, "May God grant you mercy, my son." Now his heart yearned for his brother, so Joseph made haste and sought somewhere to weep. Then he went into his inner chamber and wept there. He then washed his face and came out; and he composed himself, and said, " Serve the bread." So they set him a place by him self, and then by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by  themselves; because the Egyptians could not eat food with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians. Now they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the  youngest according to his youth; and the men looked in astonishment at one another. Then he took servings to them from before him, but Benjamin's serving was five times as much as any of theirs. So they drank and were merry with him.

Joseph's Stolen Cup

Now Joseph commanded the steward of his house, saying, "Fill the men's sack's with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack. Also put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his grain money." So he did according to the word Joseph had spoken. As soon as the morning dawned, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys. When they had gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, " Get up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, "Why have you repaid evil for good? Why have you stolen my silver cup? Is not this the cup from which my lord drinks, and with which he indeed practices divination? You have done evil in so doing."

So he overtook them, and he spoke to them these same words. But they said to him, "Why does my lord say these words? Far be it from us that your servants should do such a thing. Look, we brought back to you from the land of Canaan the money we found in the mouth of our sacks. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord's house? With whoever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's servants." Then he replied, "Now as you say, so it will be; he with whom it is found shall be my servant, and you shall be blameless." Then each man speedily let down his sack to the ground, and each opened his sack. So he searched the oldest and left off with the youngest; and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack. Then they tore their clothes, and each man loaded his donkey and returned to the city. So Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house and he was still there; and they fell before him on the ground. Thus Joseph said to them, "What is this you have done? Did you not know that such a man as I can certainly practice divination?" Then Judah said, "What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the wrongdoing of your servants; here we are, my lord's slaves, both we and he also with whom the cup was found." But Joseph said, " Far be it from me that I should do so; the man in whose hand the cup was found, he shall be my servant. And as for you, go up in peace to your father."

Judah Speaks Up for Benjamin

Then Judah came near to him and said, "O my lord, let your servant speak a word in my lord's hearing, and do not let your anger burn against your servant; for you are even like Pharaoh. My lord asked his servants, saying, "Have you a father or a brother? Then we said to my lord, "We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, who is young; his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother's children, and his father loves him.  Then you said to your servants, "Bring him down to me,that  I may set my eyes on him." But we said to my lord, "The lad cannot leave his father , for if he should leave his father, his father would die." But you said to your servants, "Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you shall see my face no more." So it was ,when we went up to your servant  my father, that we told him the works of my lord. And our father said, "Go back and buy us a little food." But we said, "We cannot go down; if our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down; for we may not see the man's face unless our youngest brother is with us." Then your servant our father said to us,''You know my wife bore me two sons; and the one went out from me, and I said, "Surely he was eaten by a wild animal''; and I have not seen him since. But if you take this one also from me, and calamity befalls him, you shall bring down my gray hair with sorrow to the grave.'' Now therefore, when I come to your servant our father, and the lad is not with us, since his life is bound up in the lad's life, it will happen, when he sees the lad is not with us he will die. So your servants will bring down the gray hair of your servant our father with sorrow to the grave. For your servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, ''If I do not bring him back to you, then I shall bear the blame before my father all my days. '' Now therefore, let your servant remain instead of the lad as a servant to my lord, and let the lad go up with his brothers. For how shall I go up to my father if the lad is not with me, lest perhaps I see the evil that would come upon my father?''

Joseph Reveals Himself to His Brothers

Now Joseph could not restrain himself before all those who stood by him, and he cried out, ''Make everyone go out from me!'' So no one stood with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers. Then he wept aloud, and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard it, Joseph then said to his brothers, ''I am Joseph; does my father still live?'' But his brothers could not answer him, for they were stunned in his presence.

But Joseph said to his brothers, ''Come near to me.'' So they came near. Then he said, ''I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. Now therefore, do not be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to save life. For this is the second year of famine in the land, and five years still remain in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. For God sent before you to preserve you as a remnant on the earth, and to sustain you as a great remnant. So now. it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

Hurry then and go up to my father, and say to him, ''Thus says your son Joseph, '' God made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not tarry. You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you and your children, your children's children , your sheep and oxen, and all you have. There I will provide for you, lest you and your household, and all you have, come to poverty; for five years of famine still remain.'' And behold, your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see it is my mouth that speaks to you. Therefore, you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and all you have seen; and you shall hurry and bring me my father down to here.'' Then he fell on his brother Benjamin's neck and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck. Moreover he kissed all his brothers and wept over them, and after this his brothers  talked with him.

Now the report of it was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, "Joseph's brothers have come.'' So it pleased Pharaoh and his servants well. So Pharaoh said to Joseph, '' Say to your brothers, ''Do this, load your conveyances and depart; go to the land of Canaan. Bring your father and your households and come to me; I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land. Now you are commanded do this, take carts out of the land of Egypt for your little ones and your wives; bring your father and come.

Also do not be concerned about your goods, for the best of all land of Egypt is yours.''

Thus the sons of Israel did so; and command of Pharaoh, and he gave them provisions for the journey. He gave to all of them, to each man, two changes of garments; but Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of gold and five changes of exceptionally fine garments. He also sent to his father these things; ten donkeys loaded with the good things  of Egypt, and ten mules ...

Then they went up out of Egypt, and came to the land of Canaan to Jacob their father. Thus they told him, saying, ''Joseph your son is still alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt. '' But Jacob's mind was completely stunned, for he could not believe them. But when they told him all the words Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts Joseph sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived. Then Israel said, ''It is great thing to me that my son Joseph is still alive, I will go and see him before I die."

Jacob Journeys to Egypt

Now Israel took his journey with all he had and came to the Well of Oath, and offered a sacrifice to the God of his father Isaac. Then God spoke to Israel in a vision of the night and said, "Jacob, Jacob! So he said, "Here I am." So God said to him, "I am the God of your fathers, do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again, and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes."....

The Greek Crisis, the Greeks have become the spectacle and the filth of the whole world the off scouring of all things until now!

Greece's Spiritual and Debt Crisis in the whole world... The Odyssey is the story of the Hellenism.

Greece is the Europe  the light of the world and has Jesus Christ the real God the Spiritual Light  of the whole world

that leads the humankind to Ithaka our heavenly homeland, the Heaven, the Eternity! The Greeks is the messengers of the real God

like the reluctant Prophet Jonah and have mission to the world to transmit the "Light" like the symbolic lambadedromes. The Light of knowledge of Culture, the light of Divine knowledge and the light of salvation through the Orthodoxy, Jesus Christ. With the current situation in Greece God giving His lesson to us the Greeks that we don`t have any power and can't do anything without Him.

God wants and will bring the Greeks back on track like the Prophet Jonah again to complete His plans for the Salvation (from sins) of Humanity. The people of the Nations live in spiritual darkness until the light of the Gospel is brought to them by the real God's messengers the Apostles, the preachers, and all the faithful who bear equal responsibility to "make disciples of all nations." Greece

is also like the Patriarch Joseph from the old Testament who sold by his brothers into slavery in Egypt. The  cause of the Greek Debt Crisis with the result the Global Economic Crisis, started because "our brothers" Germany and other countries of European Union

envies us the Greeks. They hate us like they have punished Promitheus, even thought they live with the Greek standards, they use our math, our medical and copy our culture because "what the mind and heart for man, Greece is for humanity " after the unrepeatable " We are all Greeks " meaning the principles and culture that they still have in the world are Greek. The Greek civilization is a gift from our God and was the most influential civilization in the history of the world. All of today`s thoughts and ideas can be traced back to the Greeks. The Greeks gave to the world the Democracy, Mathematics, Drama, Philosophy, Olympics, a whole bunch of ancient

``Gods and tomes of mythology etc. The Nations want our Culture, our treasures, the achievements and Heritage of  the Greek culture, our patrimony, our islands, our shining sun, our vivid blue sea and sky, our sacred country Greece blessed from God  which belongs to Him (it is known that even they hate us for the coffee that we enjoy). They envy us, the Greeks like the brothers hate Joseph the Patriarch from Genesis in the Bible, but we love them and feel sorry for them for their lack of love to us.They feel pity for us we are the bankrupts Greeks, we became their slaves in our own country and in the others countries forcing us to migrate all over the world. We are the default members of the EU, ``the filth of the world, the off scouring of all things until now`` and ``the spectacle both to angels and to men``, but all we have to think, the question is which poverty is greater the Economic or the Spiritual ?

We, the Greeks we are sinners in front of our God but we still have something very important, we have love for the humans and filotimo, a good heart and for this reason God chosen us, and He will save Greece and us at the end, if we repent and return to our heavenly Father. We even embrace in our country the various refugees families and invaders that are Muslims. We all know the hate and persecution of Christians by the Muslims all over the world. Greece is the Europe, the Light of the world, is Jesus Christ  and Europe is Greece. Greece without exceptions had incapable politicians and because of our unfaithfulness to God the resent years we "sold " our patrimony, our faith, our country and our values in family , we forgot our identity, who we are, like in Odyssey. We forgot our Ancient Greek and Byzantine Greek Heritage, our Heroes, Saints and Martyrs and mainly we denied our birthrights and gave away for nothing the God blesses instead of some pottage  the "Loans, money " like Essau in the old Testament.

"Behold, you are sold for your sins, and for your lawlessness I put away your mother... Behold, with My rebuke I dry up the sea. and I turn rivers into deserts; and because there is no water, their fish dry up and die of thirst. I clothe heaven with darkness and make its covering like sackcloth."   Isaiah 50:1

"For thus says the Lord: "You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money."  Isaiah 52:3

We are like the prodigal son in the parable of Christ. Poverty is the prize our punishment, the condemnation for us and for all the world. The Debt Crisis and poverty in Greece and of the whole world is the prize of our unfaithfulness and sins according to the interpretation of the symbols in my Theological study results. The same unfaithfulness has the rest world without exception as the known "We are all Greeks ".  I started just looking, comparing and interpreting the symbols of three political commentary cartoons for the Greek Crisis and I ended up with all this study... I have shocked with my findings ... I believe that Greece belongs to the true God and her future is in His own hands. We the Greeks in this Crisis that in Greek means judgement we have to pay the prize for our own sins against our true God. I try with this comparative study, and research humble to interpret images as symbols trying to find their deeper meaning, comparing images, symbols with Byzantine icons, literature from Odyssey, Ancient Greek literature, and  the  Old and New Testament with the current situation in Greece and in the whole world and actually how someone can "see" through the eyes of an Orthodox icon painter (this is a private view) interpreting the images as symbols with the wisdom of the Holy Bible and the Orthodox Theology using the symbolic language of Byzantine Holy Iconography. Many times we think we see but we really don`t see. I believe that it is good for us to have a look at the world through the eyes of the others. I prefer to know rather than to be in the darkness of my own world. It is just a comparative study, a review  and Theological private interpretation of the Spiritual and  Debt Crisis in Greece and in the whole world and the main purpose for this study and my obligation is to share it with you . As a byzantine artist I want to raise awareness for all of us , for my beloved country Greece and for all the people of the world. We are spiritual blinds. Where we are going...

IMPORTANT: The Political Commentary Cartoons belong to their respective creators artists Cartoonists from around the world and their comments and opinion is objective. It is very interesting the all they see very well. We see in the same way the situation in Europe and in Greece. All the cartoons, images, photos and various texts belong to their respective owners ans their view is private and objective and presented here only for understanding purposes of the Theological Study and I am very thankful for this support. Also I am thankful for the beautiful and meaningful music from the Greek artists. Additional all the mistakes are mine. Thank you.

MARK 12:41

Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much.

Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them,

"Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."

LUKE 10:25

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him,  saying, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?"

So he answered and said said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind," and your neighbor as yourself."

And He said to him, "You have answered rightly; do this and you will live."

But he, wanted to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is your neighbor?"

Then Jesus answered and said: "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. Butt a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care if him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denari, gave then to the innkeeper, and said to him, "Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.

So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?"

And he said, "He who showed mercy on him."

Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

*The Samaritan while a despised foreigner, is an image of Christ, for He "came down from Heaven" to save even those in rebellion against Him.(Compare the Greeks behaviour towards the waves of refugees in Greece with the wild Christians persecution by the Muslims.)

Pilate said to them ,"Which of the two do you want me to release to you? They said, "Barabbas!" Pilate said to them,"What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ? They all said to him,"Let Him be crucified!" When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumulut was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this

Person. You see to it. "And all the people answered and said, "His blood be on us and on our children.'' Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.   Matthew 27:22

The rest European Union"brethren" countries but also countries from all over the world why they have so much apathy towards the Greek Economic and Humanitarian Crisis and they only remain speechless like the fishes?  This is because they have lack of Christ's light and love and sympathy for their fallen and trapped  country the 'bankrupt Greece". But the tyrannized and "bankrupt Greeks" that are poor in their pockets today, are more " wealthy" in their heart and have greatness of soul and have the courage and the real Christ's love to embrace all kind of Muslims refugees and all the intruders after the direction of the European Union. They gave them food, their houses risking their unity, identity (Greek and Orthodox) of their country, risking their safety of their families, giving them their leftover money.

And this at the same time when the refugees issue is another burden for Greece at this moment knowing the Greeks the wild persecution of Christians from the Muslims and the huge fear of Terrorism all over the world! The Greeks know and believe in the Jesus words:

"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just us your Father in heaven is perfect "    Matthew 6:44

What the European Union countries did, we all know and this is very sad because with this tactic they will treat all the people and all the maters with lack of love to Humans giving priority to idols, the money (idololatry). They humiliate and "torture" and "sacrifice" the

human being (Greeks, refugees etc.), the crown of all Creation of God in the altar of money! The dominance and mostly the money

the idololatry our modern " golden calf " is the real cause of this catastrophe against Humanity. They can't see clear, having lack of the superior light of Christ and love, seeing the darkness as a progression and development. I thought that European Union founded on the principles of peace, democracy, liberty, solidarity and respect for at least the basic human rights but I see the opposite in their politic direction and especially in action.Unfortunately they return the world in the age before  Christ and in the age of persecution.Dept is an instrument to control the debtor, and as such, it strives for its own expended reproduction. The only way out of this vicious cycle is simply to cut the Gordian knot. The exit and for us the Greeks Grexit is the only solution. Greece must gather the courage and write the debt off and the cycle of cold Brussels. The History is watching  and recording all and for some countries the ink is going to be black again. We want from the leaders of the world to have superior Godly ideals and principals. The fruit of wisdom is Christlikeness, peace, humility and love and the root of it is faith in Christ as the manifested wisdom of God.

Matthew 23:1

"Then, Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men...

And do not be called teachers; One is your Teacher, the Christ and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in Heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted ...

But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in...Fools and blinds! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?... Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and shallow a camel!

" Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self - indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them my be clean also.

"Woe to you. scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous and say, " If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets."

" Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then the measure of your father's guilt. Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between temple and the altar. Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

Euro all you can "eat " ... the Debt that you'll regret it later!

There is no Repentance after Death

     THE HELL ...

Joseph`s colorful Tunic, a gift from his father Jacob and one of the reasons of  the jealousy of his brothers.

The Modern Greeks have had both a Byzantine and a Hellenic Ancient Greek past and heritage to digest...

1.They bind heavy burdens (Debt)  hard bear and lay them on men shoulders.

2.Blind Quides.

"That man, O Muse, tell of that resourceful  man  who

sacked the halloned citadel of Troy,  and then was made

to wander far and wide..."                  Homer, the Odyssey

Comparing the two images  above is obvious that Byzantine icons inspired by the ancient Greek Art ! Study the similarities ...

Matthew 27:69

And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee." But Peter denied it before them all, saying , "I do not  know what you are saying."  And when he had gone out the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, "This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth." But again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man!" And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you." Then he began to curse and swear, saying ,"I do not know the Man."Immediately a rooster crowed.  And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, "Before the rooster crows,  you will deny Me three times. "  So he went out  and wept bitterly.

The whole world does not know the "Spiritual" light that Jesus Christ with his life and  teaching offered to humanity?

The whole world and most the Scientific with their knowledge and the world of Museums also, that are full of Greek artifacts

they don't know the exceptional light  that Hellenism,  the Ancient Culture of  this "bankrupt  Modern Greek" offered to humankind? They also know very well from the archaeloggical findings and artifacts that the name "MACEDONIA/ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΙΑ" is Greek and the " GREAT ALEXANDER /  ΜΕΓΑΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ " also was a Greek.

Without exception all we ignored Him and denied  Him!

"But you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption that, as it is written," He who glories, let him glory in the Lord."    1  CORINTHIANS 2:26

"For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the off scouring of all things until now."    1 CORINTHIANS 4:8

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. S then death is working in us, but life in you. And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak, knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you.

For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

Here you can see some of the disastrous consequences for Greece being in the European Union. And all of these wasn't enough for the "poor" Greeks so while the EU was "trying to restore" our Economy with the cooperation of our government transformed Greece as Europe`s huge "Hot spot"  for the foreign refugees and others secretly invaders and terrorists .The Glorious Greece is in a very bad situation today because of our apathy. We chose politicians according to our personal interest and not according to our country's benefit and progression .Greece is going to death because of all our incapable politicians without exceptions till today. They have no ideals and standards and they have no faith to God. We are tired of politicians without a stature. Greece needs real leaders and not marionettes. Please "Don't judge and condemn Greece  by her politicians" as the known "Don't judge a book by it's cover". Greece was forced to bankrupt for many reasons,we all know it. Greece at this moment can not feed her children...and all the Greek youth forced to immigrate all over the world. Greece is not able to handle her serious and various

internals problems! With this way the EU pressuring Greece to go more speedy to death. We are aware and have many concerns that the biggest hazard from this situation is not only the economic and the danger for terrorist acts in Greece but mainly we care for the denationalization of Greece because of some temporal economic benefits... Greece is loosing her unity which is Hellenism and Christianity the Orthodoxy loosing her identity

and finally her power! We are against this. We are proud of being Greeks and Christians Orthodox! We  belong to Greece and to the Orthodoxy to this powerful combination and we support and embrace all those who they want truly with unselfish and self sacrifice to support and help Hellenism, Christianity and Humanism!

We are not racist we love all the people, we are under one sky but this is an unthinkable

shamelessness and ungratefulness the final blow. Greece is the cradle of Western Civilization! Greece has the Orthodoxy and the Hellenism. Has one of the longest histories of any country, has the Great

Alexander, is the birthplace of Democracy, of Philosophy, the Olympic Games, Western literature, Historiography, Political Science, major scientific and Mathematical principles, Western Drama and Comedy and so much more! The EU direction for the refugees issue in Greece reminds us the crowd shouted against Jesus: "Let Him be Crucified!" and also the Pontius Pilate attitude washing his hands from the responsibility of the blood of Jesus. Europe closing her borders for the refugees and ignoring the already economic and humanitarian Crisis in Greece. Think what Jesus Christ the 2nd person of the Holy Trinity and His teaching offered to the whole world and how they treated Him and crucify Him! I wonder which "poor" country will be the next victim in the queue for this persecution and various tortures! All the countries and we personally

must "share the responsibility " and stop from being apathetic and selfish against Humanity Crimes! The Greeks are Christians and although the today persecution against Christians and the  misery in Greece the Greeks embracing and helping the refugees and various invaders with self sacrifice. This reminds me the Christ's Parable of the Good Samaritan but also the chief priests saying to Jesus:"He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel let Him come down from the Cross and we will believe Him"...

and Jesus said "I am the Son of God" We must have love and treat our "brothers", the Greeks, the Syrian refugees and all the others in need as ourselves and as  we want to be treated with love, care, respect and dignity. They are humans like you. Please put yourself, your children and your own country in the position of the Greeks and also in the refugees position. How you feel..? Nicely eh?  Let's pray for the Peace of the whole World!

The human being, the temple of God, the crown of all creation is greater than gold and money.

Money, the modern mammon is the modern "Golden calf" and the consequences of idololatry is disastrous...

                               THE JUDGMENT OF WORKS

                                     MATTHEW 26:31

When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then the King will say to those on his right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me; Then the righteous will answer Him, saying ,

"Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did You see You

a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I  say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me."

Then He will say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me."Then they also will answer Him, saying , "Lord when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?

Then he will answer them, saying, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me." And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
